World Series Final Game Draws Over 50 Million Audience Members In the United States, Canada and Japanese Regions.

The exciting extended contest where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined 51 million spectators in the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB reported this is the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable game drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game placed 4th, the fourth game was seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

International Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game averaged over 11 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final contest began at 9 PM local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – where World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a single network in Japan.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the opening game telecast on Univision, the total US viewership was over 16 million. The overall World Series average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09 million watchers, an 8% rise compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since 2017.

Major League Baseball reported that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 different tongues.
